This grouper is distinguishable by its light colored body with nested, brown, hexagon shaped spots. Some of these spots fuse to form short bands. It is found in the light, clear waters of the lagoon and also on reefs and flats. We can find it up to 165 feet deep. The diet of this grouper consists of other fish and crustaceans.
