I am an ecologist whose work has focused on understanding and managing the impacts of invasive species. My research has taken me across a range of ecosystems and continents, from studying invasive grasses in forests and invasive algae in marine systems to investigating rapid evolution in cane toads. Since moving to Tahiti in 2021, I have worked at the intersection of conservation and research, helping design invasive species eradication programs and evaluating their benefits for biodiversity.
What motivates me most about invasive species management is that it offers a tangible opportunity to reverse biodiversity loss, especially on islands. Seeing ecosystems recover following successful restoration efforts has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
I am also passionate about education and believe that immersive, place-based learning is one of the best ways to foster curiosity and environmental stewardship. Tetiaroa Society’s commitment to integrating research, conservation, and education makes it a uniquely inspiring organization, and I am excited to contribute to its mission.
