Tides at Tetiaroa
The result of this unusual tidal situation for Tetiaroa (and the rest of the Society Islands) is that, unlike most other places, the tides play only a minor role in people’s lives.

...from the map you can see that there is an amphidromic point in French Polynesia, which means that for a large swath of the islands of French Polynesia there is almost no trace of a lunar tide.
It seemed appropriate for World Oceans Day to use our Nature Note to cover something about the oceans. So, we will look at tides, which turns out to be a very interesting topic here in Tetiaroa.
