About this species
The long body is covered with small, tightly packed silver scales and ends in a forked tail. Bonefish favour shallow sandy bottoms. They are often solitary, though schools of several dozen may gather in atoll waters.
In high islands, they also enter cloudy mangrove waters. Their food is taken from the bottom: molluscs, small crustaceans and other invertebrates.
