About this species

The body is pearly pale. A dark stripe extends from the snout towards the tail base, with a separate dark spot nearby. Long barbels beneath the mouth detect animals concealed in the seabed.

Active both by day and by night, it searches sandy and rubble-strewn lagoon bottoms and passes, less often the ocean-facing slope. Records extend to about 100 m. Its meals include bottom-dwelling invertebrates, especially small crustaceans and molluscs.
