About this species

An oval, silvery-pink body carries large red scales. A dark crescent runs along the gill cover towards the pectoral fin. The first dorsal fin is red; the other median fins and the pelvic fins are red with white stripes. The fish reaches about 27 cm.

During the day, schools shelter in lagoon caves and crevices, sometimes alongside other soldierfish species. They emerge after dark to feed on zooplankton.
