About this species

Geograpsus crinipes belongs to the same crab family as the rock crab, Grapsus tenuicrustatus, but is more often found inland on Tetiaroa. The species is widespread in the Indo-Pacific.

Irregular parallel wrinkles cross its yellow-brown upper shell; the underside is pale yellow. Its body is low and flattened, and the two claws are roughly equal in size.
