About this species

Risso’s dolphins belong to the dolphin family, Delphinidae. As scars accumulate and lose pigment, older animals may appear almost entirely white.

The guide describes a diet dominated by squid, with small fish also taken. Groups commonly contain two to twenty animals in its account, and females have a calf about every two to four years.

The source records the species in all five archipelagos. That regional distribution does not by itself establish a resident group at Tetiaroa.
